99% of people who try to generate serious income from their blogs will fail. Is this true? Typically no less than 80 of all new business startups fail within five years. Why is the rate of blog failure higher than other types of businesses?
Why can’t most earn money with their blog?
Many people think it is just easy, just create a blog and watch the money roll in. Costs up entry are low so what is there to lose? Think about any job with low costs to enter. Many people will see big blogs making tons of money and think “I can do that”. Actually they can’t do it. You need to know more than how to type and write. You need to be very Web savvy, which means marketing, social networking and even good Web Design. You can’t create money from blogging just from well wishes and hopes.
Think like a entrepreneur , not an employee
Blogging isn’t your typical 9 to 5. Just because your blog might be making money now, doesn’t mean it will be 3 years from now. You have to continuously be looking out for new changes. What are your threats? Technology does change and unless you can keep up with it, you could get left in the dust. So you are earning money with a blog on the internet. Could you optimize your blog so it could be viewed on a cell phone? Keep looking for new ways to expand.
What is your reason for blogging?
If your number one reason for blogging is money, then good luck. Blogging needs to be more of a passion. If you don’t enjoy it, you probably won’t be able to create quality articles that are going to keep traffic coming for months to come. Sure people visited your blog today, but will they visit it tomorrow? I try to add value to many of my posts and what I write. I want this article to be valid 5 years from now and even ten years from now. (Aren’t my articles the bread and butter of your day?)
