Wake up at noon, take a shower, and start writing. That is basically my life as a Blogger in a nutshell. First I sit there wondering what I should write, usually I have no idea. Otherwise I sit there and examine my life as a Blogger, am I really heading in the right direction? I watch my income and it does go up. I already made last months income in one week. Still $1,500 a month is not enough to be considered “full time”. Meanwhile I’ll eat my rice until I can triple to $4,500 a month.
Freelance for extra income
Do I rely solely on the income of this blog to support my life? If I did that I’d be dead… No seriously I freelance write for other companies. This usually gives me a couple extra couple hundred dollars a month. Where to start? Just apply. Try freelanceswitch.com.
Mass Blogging
Do I have only one personal blog? No. To rely on only one blog for an income is too risky. I’m sort of “hedging” my income by having more than one blog income source. Why put all your risk on one blog. If something happens to it you have nothing. If you multiple blogs, you can use the other blogs for support if one comes crashing down. Think stock market, but blogging.
Risky?
I feel like my life fluctuates like this traffic on this blog. Its the same as owning your own business. I have all the risk. But, figure at least I always have a job. If I was out in the working world, I could lose my job. Then what do I have? Nothing.

Hey Nick,
You’re very right that having only one blog and relying on that income is a bit less than ideal…so I plan to get some more up and running. I’ll probably have a personal finance blog and a marriage blog and possibly a golf blog…who knows!
I own a Manufacturer’s Rep company that I have just started but I still Caddie at East Lake Golf Club a few days a week to pay the bills while I’m building everything else.
I would much rather have the freedom that comes along with the risk of being on your own than the “security” that comes from a job (with a soft “j”)!!
Great post!
