You are sitting at the checkout, when she does it. The woman in front of you pulls out a check and starts to fill it out. Oh crap! Now we have to wait in line even longer! Who uses a check anymore? In this post I will cover the three reasons to get a credit card and how it will help you save money.
Note: I do not work for a credit card company!
1. Credit Cards will save you money
Who else would give you cash back for using their product? How does 2% on all your purchases sound? What happens when you use your credit car beyond its limit? You can’t use it and sit embarrassed at the checkout counter. Compare that to a check, when you over write a check, that means fees, fees, and more fees. Overdraft fee and then you pay a fee to the bank for your account being too low.
2. Credit Cards and Online Shopping go hand in hand
Ok this might not be entirely true, paypal can be used in some instances. In any case, how are you going to get that sweet deal from woot.com if you don’t have a credit card? Consider that I buy almost all my products online. You wouldn’t think this option would be cheaper, but if you use a comparison shopper, most products end up being cheaper even with shipping.
3. I lost my Wallet?
I’ve lost my wallet plenty of times. So say you have lost your wallet or someone stole it. What happens to the money inside? Gone. Checks inside? You gotta pay to get those canceled. The credit cards inside? Good news, you can 1. cancel them 2. if anyone did use them to buy stuff, you will get the money back. I had my credit card stolen and about $3,000 charged on it. They maxed out the whole card. It took months to clear it up, but in the end I didn’t have to pay anything because of it.
4.Credit Cards are bad!
Though I’ve said positive things, they are also like a plastic piece of evil if you can’t use them properly. People who use their credit cards to pay off debts, or to pay off other credit cards are digging themselves in a black hole. Pretend your credit card is cash. Don’t spend more than you have or you are gonna end up in credit card hell paying off their steep interest charges. If there is anything bad about credit cards, it is the high interest rates they have. Worried? Get a prepaid Credit Card.
