I’ve noticed this time of year everything starts getting slower. Though we rush to the mall to get those last minute gifts, I’ve noticed things on the internet have gotten slower. Traffic is down, RSS subscriptions are lower, and even Google Adsense is not what it used to be. Many bloggers have opted for Happy Christmas Messages rather than in depth posts. Can we fight this Christmas slowdown?
Counteract Christmas Slowdown
Rather than drinking that eggnog and falling asleep in that sofa, take advantage of the Christmas slowdown. Start doing your best work in anticipation for everything to startup again. We’ve all heard “the early bird catches the worm”. Be that early bird. Bloggers start writing your best work now, while no one else is. This couldn’t be a better time to start improving yourself, with more free time and time off from work, we can use this time to be productive in our own lives, rather than for that company you work for.
Turn off the TV
The best time waster is TV. It’s easy to get stuck in a comfy chair and stare at the TV all day. The problem with TV is, it doesn’t make you think. Rather it’s done all the thinking for you. Read a book. Books give me the ideas that I use to write on this blog. I’m always reading a new book. Try “The Magic of Thinking Big” by David Schwartz. David challenges us to think bigger. He encourages to build a mountain and not just a hill. Think big and achieve big.
Relax and enjoy yourself
Though this is a great time to start getting things done, sometimes Christmas is the perfect time to clear your head. Many of us just spent a stressful month working and getting things done, that this 4 day weekend is the perfect time to do nothing clear your head and spend time with our family. If getting work done now feels stressful, don’t work. Just relax so when things start to get into motion, you’ll be refreshed and ready to go.
Most of all, have a Merry Christmas! (and make sure to Subscribe)
