I received an email yesterday from “The Bet” asking how to increase traffic to a blog. When I started this blog, I started out like everybody else with blog traffic. I was happy when traffic to my blog was 25 visitors.
How I increased Traffic to my Blog: Patience
Patience. You need to build up blog posts before you can expect to get a lot of traffic. ClickforNick.com has over 1000 posts built up over the course of the last 8 months. It was after about 5 months that I hit my first 1000 visitors in one day. Since then, everything took off, bringing me 6000 visitors per day.
How I increase Traffic to my Blog: Blog Titles
Titles are very important for the search engine. When I write titles, I try to imagine what people are search for. For instance, take the case of Franco’s 2nd blog post. He titled it “Poker isn’t that Gambling?” What he should have wrote is, “Poker Gambling: Gambling in Poker”. I would have started the first sentence out as: Here is why poker is gambling. When gambling in poker…
When someone searches for “Poker Gambling” in Google, Google’s search engine is going to find Francos blog and pick up the following:
“Poker Gambling: Gambling in Poker” - Here is why poker is gambling. When gambling in poker…
Search Engine Results are Critical
When starting out a new blog, good search engine results are critical. Unless you have money to spend on advertising, this is going to be the best way to increase traffic to your blog. We can’t simply write whatever we want. Rather, your posts need to be written in such a way that you use the keywords you used in your title all through out your entire post. Repetition is key. Repeat your keywords over and over.
Feedburner: Gain loyal users
The last recommendation I have for increasing traffic to your blog is signing up for feedburner. This builds a community and loyalty to your blog. Once the majority of your blog traffic comes from visitors visiting constantly and from other websites linking directly to your blog, you can start to write posts however you want, since you won’t be as reliant on search engines. But, before you have a constant visitors, make Google your best friend.

This is some pretty useful information.
I’ve created more traffic potential at my work from a website and book called Step up Results. It’s a 7 day challenge to see if you can increase your traffic to your site. So the reason why I did this was to impress my boss, and I think I impressed myself as well! See my work is a pretty small company that not a lot of people have heard of. My boss had been in the business for about 3 years and it was at a pretty much standstill. He was talking to a salesman about how he’d like to step up his game and what not - being that our office was tiny and the phones so quiet I could hear a pin drop, I took the liberty upon myself to research. I brought this book Step up Results to him and at first he was like WHATEVER, but then he actually read through it, bought the book and honestly he hasn’t been happier.
I’m revealing this info because I’d really like to see someone else benefit from this as much as I have… I couldn’t be happier. I’m making great money at my job and Hopefully I’ll be manager soon
I think I’ve showed a lot of will. I guess We’ll see!!

There is some controversy over how representative Alexa’s user base is of typical Internet behavior. If http://www.alexa.com/data/details/main?url=www.fortunehotels.in Alexa’s user base is a fair statistical sample of the internet user population, Alexa’s ranking should be quite accurate.
