How to Live on Minimum Wage: Save Money

Could you live on minimum wage alone?The Current United States Federal minimum wage is $5.75 per hour. Working full time would give you$936 per month. Would it even be possible to live off so little? Yes, and here’s how to live on minimum wage:

You’d have to first create a budget, assuming that there are no taxes on the $936.
Housing: Assume $500 for a one bedroom with utilities or $125 per week.
Food: If you cook yourself, I’d estimate I currently eat $5 per day, or $150 a month.
Entertainment: There isn’t much room for this. Use free resources like internet tv or the local library.
Clothing: Shop at second hand shops or only reduced sales.$60 per month or $15 per week.
Insurance: Everyone needs some form of health care. I ave seen discount care for as low as $50. Lets budget that in as $12.50 per week.
Household Utilities: Everyone needs razers, soap, toilet paper, etc. Lets budget this to be $12 per week or $48 per month.
Total= $808

Keep in mind I haven’t budget the minimum wage budget for transportation. If you drive a car that will easily eat up the rest of the $936. If you ride a bike and walk, then you’d have $128 left over to spend. You never know when that might come in handy…
