How to Lower Your Energy Bill

Feeling the pinch this winter season? With climbing energy costs amounting to high energy bills, it would be in almost everyone’s interest to find ways to lower that energy bill. But, can we lower our bill without having to wear our winter coats inside?

Lower your Water Temperature
Did you know that 120 degrees is hot enough to kill germs? Most water heaters are actually set at the temperate of 140 degres, 20 degrees hotter than necessary. Lower your heater down to 120 degrees and save on your energy bill.

Lower the Thermostat
There was a reason why my house is always so cold at night. While we sleep, we don’t need the house as warm as during the day. Our covers keep us warm and our bodies tend to sweat at night creating additional body heat. Even just lowering the temperate in your house could save 1% off your energy bill and even $4 per month.

Control Your Water Heater
Do you need to heat your water all day long? Turn it off when you sleep or go away for the day. This is just using unnecessary energy and just added dollars on your energy bill.

Incandescent is better than Fluorescent
Yes, though these bulbs cost more. Think about your long term costs. These bulbs not only lost much longer, but over the their lifetime they will save you a bundle on your energy costs.
