I should have named this post spend money because there are easy ways to waste your money, on small things that you wouldn’t even notice. It’s not exactly wasting, but a good way to waste your money quickly on small costs that you could have avoided.
Waste Money Method 1: Coffee
The National Coffee Association says that the average cost of coffee is $1.38. Multiply that by 260 weekdays and you’ve already already spent a lot on coffee. Rather than get coffee every morning. I’ve used a thermos to contain my own self brewed coffee. It’s at least half the price and twice as good since I prepare it the way I want.
Waste Money Method 2: Alcohol
That bar tab gets expensive. Consider the average beer at the bar is at least $3, though I’ve read estimates as high as $5. Why not pre-drink a beer or two before going out? Bars also have special nights when you can go out and get a beer as little as half off. In college students flocked to the bars with the cheapest prices. This may also be to your benefit, cheaper prices, more people.
Waste Money Method 3: Bottled Water from the Store
Getting water for $1? That gets pretty costly. Either buy in bulk, or carry a glass around with you.
Waste Money Method 4: Credit Card Debt
Don’t pay the minimum fee! Credits cards charge the highest interest possible. On the other hand if you can use your credit card properly, you may save even 1% on your total purchases. But, if you can’t control your spending, nothing is better than a little green.
Waste Money Method 5: Eating lunch out
Didn’t pack a lunch? That daily $5 lunch adds up quickly. It could be an extra $200 a month just for weekly lunches. That’s a feast for what you could buy at a supermarket. Try packing lunches.
Don’t live a life of luxury if you can’t afford it. Nothing could be much worse than debt. If you are flexible, you could be living a better life just by identifying where your money is being wasting…
