Kyle MacDonald traded one red paperclip for a house. The Guinness Book of World Records recently gave Kyle the record for “best internet trade”. He started with one red paperclip on July 12 2005 and 14 trades later, on July 12, 2006 traded with the Town of Kipling Saskatchewan for a house located at 503 Main Street.

If you tried to make the same trade today, it probably wouldn’t be as succesful. After the idea has been done, it can be hard to replicate the same success. So many people see one successful idea and try to replicate it hoping for the exact same success.
