It is about that time again, filing taxes for your blog. In my case, I’ve got mail coming in from Google, Kontera, and every other place that earn cash from. So far I haven’t paid a cent in taxes on my earning, something I’m going to be hit with once the tax man looks at my earnings. But, fortunately this year’s taxes won’t be bad since I will be getting a $600 rebate check from George Bush.
Write your blog expenses off
Blogs are a business too. If you have to pay taxes on the income of your blog, did you know that you can write off any expenses you incurred in the creation of your blog? This includes internet connection, computers used for blog purposes, and even vacation expenses.
Write your vacation off
Grace Cheng at Worldiki simply travels and can write the expenses off, since this is necessary in order to produce the Worldiki blog.
Keep in Mind
Keep in mind that you can only write taxes off for expenses incurred due to the operation of your business. You can’t write vacation’s off if it isn’t business related. Also, if your blog doesn’t earn any money, there aren’t any taxes to write off there either.
Tax write offs… Just another benefit of working for yourself.

Nick. This is something I’ve been a little concerned about. This year I had to pay a bunch of taxes because of Adsense, Clickbank, and Kontera revenue. I was pretty conservative in what I wrote off. Do you have any more details about writing things off for a blog or an article you could point me to? Thanks.
