Forbes recently released a list of the worst cities in America. Apparently two of the worst cities in America happen to be in my home state Michigan: Detroit and Flint.
The Worst City in America: Detroit
None other than Detroit, Michigan could be the worst city in American. Detroit as the worst crime, 1,251 crimes per 100,000 residents. Consider also an employment rate of 8.5%. Bad news!
The Second Worst City in America: Compton
Compton has one of the highest foreclosure rates in America. Originally Compton was seen as great place to live as an alternative to the Bay Area, but housing prices rose and well, no one could afford it…
The Third Worst City in America: Flint, Michigan
It should be no suprise that Flint hits number three of the first cities. This city relied on the auto industry for a long time, but as everything went abroad, so did the jobs. Median home price? $104,000.
Cities rise and cities fall, if you rely too much on one industy such as the auto industry, how can any city expect to continue when something in that industry changes such as jobs getting sent abroad?
