Back in 2005, I thought it would be cool to become a DJ. I used to make tracks using a program called Fruity Loops and even created my own DJ profile online. You can listen to a few of my DJ tracks on iSound.
Following your dreams
Sure we all have hobbies, but how many of them are you willing to push forward and into a career? Wouldn’t it be great for your hobby to also be your source of income? Ok, so I gave up on my DJ career, but had I really made a lot of effort, who knows where I could have gone.
Stop Expecting Too Much
I’m always reminded of a crazy Italian girl who told me, “Stop expecting so much! Nothing happens right away.” She is right in the sense that, there is no instant gratification. You don’t wake up tomorrow and just become a DJ, a writer, or a famous actor for example.
Gratification Through Hard Work
Why are all those students suffering through college, working for minimum wage, and eating leftover pizza from 5 days ago? They all have a dream. Through their 4 or 5 years of study, they hope to come out victorious and enjoy the spoils of a great job afterwards.
Take blogging as an example. Why are bloggers out there writing long, really good articles even though no one is visiting their blog? They are thinking about the future, long term result. A few months of hard work and maybe people will start to notice all the effort you’ve been putting into your blog.
There is no instant Gratification!
Hard work and patience are the keys to success. Work your hardest, but don’t complain if you don’t get all the spoils. Do something you enjoy and the work won’t seem so hard, put your best effort into what you do and you’ll feel better about it. Don’t expect anything for what you do and you’ll be happier with the outcome.
