Blogging In China, Blog in Chinese?
Published by Nick on March 15th, 2008 | Tagged Blogging

Sometimes I just forget the sheer force that China has on the world. Though those accessing the internet in China have to deal with blocked internet websites, a lone Chinese blogger can attract millions of readers.

Take popular actress/director Xu in China. Though most people in the United States have nevxuer heard of this Chinese actress, she’s been able to use her popularity in China to bring her popularity in blogging. She wants her readers to see her just as an everyday Beijing girl, not only as a Chinese celebrity. She started blogging after a film didn’t work out. Now she’s turned this into a 30 minute a day activity. Within 2 years, she’s already managed to get 100 million views on her blog which is quite impressive.

Consider that even with only just a fraction (around 10%) of the users in China being able to access the internet, that China has nearly the same amount of active users online as in the United States. A Chinese blog host called Sina has said that it has already registered 230 million users around the world and gets 500 million hits a day, this number including 150 million daily for its blogs. Is it time to hire some translators to translate your blog into Chinese?
