How much influence do bloggers really have on Governments? Can you change the outcome of a political election just with blogging?
The Inquirer:
Malaysia goes to the polls on Mar. 8, but ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition is taking a hit from its opposition over the internet. BN seem to be losing the political debate online, as a plethora of anti-government web sites and blogs have sprung up to campaigning against them.
In a country where the ruling coalition controls everything the population sees and hears, but now, with the advent of phenomenon such as YouTube and an infestation of bloggers, the un-Internet savvy government is having a hard time keeping control.
Bloggers have more influence on political governments than you might think. Anyone can blog and get their opinion across. This is another reason why people are ready to pay sums of even $500 for a reputable blogger to write a post about their company.
A few factors determine your blogs influence on areas like government:
1. Do you have a lot of subscribers?
2. Are people commenting frequently?
3. Has your site been covered in the media?
4. How many visitors do you receive per day?
