Everyday I check my moderated wordpress comments to find tons of SPAM. The goal of wordpress spammers seems to be, let’s see how much spam we can stuff in one comment.  If you don’t like looking over hundreds of spam comments everyday, it’s time to block them.   There are already plenty of plug ins allowing you to block wordpress spam allowing you to let those good comments in and keep the spam comments out.

Spam Karma 2 (SK2) - stops anti spammers automated systems.

Bad Behavior - PHP scripts that stop spambots from accessing your website.

Math comment spam protection - Add a math comment that needs to be completed in order to comment.

WP-Contact Form with Spam Protection - A contact form for your blog that allows readers to contact you.

The longest Spam Comments ever?
I can’t say I’ve been keeping track, but I’ve gotten comments with over 100 links.  Some spam commenters are getting smarter and smarter, but as long as you monitor all your comments you should be able to block even the sneakiest spam commenter.
