Blogging is a fatal activity, it might just kill you. According to a NY Times article, blogging will kill you. The article says “Russell Shaw, a prolific blogger on technology subjects who died at 60 of a heart attack. In December, another tech blogger, Marc Orchant, died at 50 of a massive coronary. A third, Om Malik, 41, survived a heart attack in December.”
So three old bloggers die of a heart attack and we should start fearing for our lives? “…fellow information workers, say those deaths have them thinking about the dangers of their work style.” Very dangerous… I fear for my life everyday in this chair. What about the dangers of people actually driving to work everyday? Us bloggers are safe in our chairs at home, rather than having the risks of a car accident to get to work…
A tech blogger for TechCrunch…”Mr. Arrington says he has gained 30 pounds in the last three years, developed a severe sleeping disorder and turned his home into an office for him and four employees. “At some point, I’ll have a nervous breakdown and be admitted to the hospital, or something else will happen.â€
Well Mr. Arrington should join a gym. Anyone who sits down too long is going to naturally gain weight if they don’t get any exercise.
Am I Afraid?
Though blogging can be stressful at times, such as having to come up with new articles everyday, it does become hard to sleep. Still, I feel blogging is one of the safest professions. Sure at one point I might need glasses after staring at the computer screen too long, but the fear of a massive heart attack? I think there are professions worse than blogging. If people think bloggers have it hard, think about actual journalists, or what about air traffic controllers? They have some of the highest stress levels imaginable…
