How to Overcome Procrastination, Procrastination Tips

Procrastination we all do it.  No matter how hard I try, the ability to overcome procrastination seem alway harder than just procrastination itself.  Why do something when procrastination is so easy?  On the other hand, how can we get anything done when we let procrastination rule our lives?   Here are a few tips I’ve been using to overcome procrastination in my daily life.

Thinking you have something to do
Often the biggest reason for procrastination is thinking that you absolutely have to do something.  Therefore, you feel forced to do it so you don’t.  It’s your own sense off rebellion and ultimate form of procrastination.  When you also have a deadline, as the deadline approaches, your sense of duty towards completing the task will eventually override your sense of rebellion.

Don’t Think about the Whole Picture
During your time of procrastination it probably simply comes from the fact that you’re thinking of the activity as a whole and not in pieces.  Start thinking about what small step you can complete now.  Just complete small step at a time rather than trying to accomplish the entire activity in one day.

Schedule Some Fun Into Your Life
Often procrastination has to do with the fact that we feel like completing an activity will take fun our of our lives.  Start scheduling moments for fun and moments for getting things done.  This way you’ll guarantee yourself some fun after the work is done.  Keep in mind that even studies have shown that working more than 40 hours a week is just too much and the opposite of productive.

As I said, take the activity in pieces, rather than taking it all as a whole, schedule some fun  in between and try to cover a good portion of it before it gets too close to the deadline when it becomes an absolute must.
