5 Reason Not to Own a TV

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

Own a TV?  Here are my reasons for not owning a tv.  Yes, I’ve ditched the TV, and in the long run I’m more productive because of it.

1. Getting More Free Time: Did you ever watch the TV just because you don’t have anything better to do? On the contrary… there are so many more productive things you can do. Try reading, cooking, even cleaning that messy room?

2. More Sleep?: You ever lose sleep over TV? I’ve often stayed up later to watch the TV, losing needful sleep in the process.

3. Lose Weight?: With the extra time, maybe you could productively work on losing weight? I’ve been one to sit on the couch, watch tv, and eat junk food, its the perfect unproductive combination.

4. Do Stuff On Your Time: Have you ever scheduled events around TV shows? If you can wait just one or two days, watch it online.

5. Thought Process: After ditching the tv, my thought process has improved without having to have the TV do the thinking for me…

Blogging Online for Money, Making Money Blogging

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

Yes another article about blogging for money.  For many of my friends, the trend has been start up blogging for money, but give up after 2 months when the money doesn’t come immediately.

The Difference Between Blogging Online for Money and Blogging for Fun
Blogging for making money involves a lot more than just blogging for fun.  Blogging for money means treating your blog as a business rather than just a way to publish yourself.   If you are looking to make money, you have to be an entrepreneur, rather than just a blogger.

Marketing and Writing
An entrepreneur keeps in mind one thing, marketing is important.  If you want to grow your blogging into a money making machine, you’ve got to go out and find those looking to read your blogging.  This involves plenty of marketing.  You can have the best blog ever written, but if there is no one out there to read it, it can never grow.

However, those just blogging for fun, don’t need to worry about the marketing part of blogging.  Even a few readers should suffice.

If I can suggest any phrase that should help anyone grow?  Never be satisfied, always strive for something better!

How to Eat Better, Mark Bittman:What’s Wrong With What We Eat?

Monday, May 26th, 2008

We need to eat better. Mark Bittman explains why we need to start to eat better and why the planet is at risk. (too much meat, too few plants; too much fast food, too little home cooking).

Overall I’d recommend watching the speech. Not only might it change your mind, but it will save you some cash, by explaining just how to eat better (fast food is expensive if you add up all the costs).

Blogging Fakes, Fake Blogging Exposed

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

CEOs have used different names, and aliases to create blogging fakes. These CEOs will go around bashing other products under other blogging names and pretend to be a real account. It seems some CEOs are willing to go as low as they can to destroy the reputation of another product.

Walmart’s Blogging Fakes
At one point, Wal-Mart’s public realtions firm had paid for an average American couple to travel across the US in an RV.  The couple spent each night in a Wal-Mart parking lot. The couple then wrote about happy Wal-Mart employees on their blog. Of course Wal-mart tries to do everything it can to kill that idea of it’s mispayed and mistreated workers.

Whats Better than Blogging Fakes?
Rather than try to hide behind your faulty product and bash anyone who makes a good one, why not create practices that don’t require deceiving the public just to get them to buy your product?

Of course I’m guilty myself of blogging fakes in order to get advertising. But, the one thing I try to avoid doing, is lying about someone else’s blog or product. It seems cheap, dirty and unfair.
