As summer rolls around, we face the blogger slowdown, where bloggers don’t seem to post as many blog posts, blogs sit unupdated, new seems slow. I’ve already noticed a few of my favorite blogs sit idle. It’s however not only a blogger slowdown that takes place as summer rolls around. Our favorite TV shows are turned into months of reruns. Bloggers can even expect their average ad earnings to go down as people spend less time on the internet clicking and buying products.
Will you be effected by the summer slowdown?
The answer to this is easy. What is your blog about? If you write about hockey, then you’re definately going to feel the summer slowdown, but if you write about summer fun, the summer might be your best time. But, with many college students out of school, the northern hemisphere enjoying the sun (which comprises of most of the internet traffic) then whatever your niche be prepared for a little slowdown.
Vacation and blogging?
While many start going on vacation during the warm summer months, I’ve found myself even still blogging and vacationing, using WIFI connections along the way. Is this a challenge? Yes. Trying to come up with good topics while trying not to think can be quite a challenge, but as long as a seperate working from vacation, you can post and travel. Just make sure that your real life comes before the blog.
