Problogger wrote a nice post explaining the magic behind getting traffic to a blog simply by commenting on other blogs.  He explains the heat map of where readers look on your blog and how commenting is a great way to find potential readers.

Keep in mind that your comments have to add some value to the post you are commenting on otherwise you’ll come off as spam and potentially hurt your reputation on the blogosphere.
