How Much Is Your Blog Worth? CubeStat

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

Cubestate is a new service that tells you how much your blog is worth.  The worth of your blog isn’t an exact figure, it could be worth more or less depending how well you’ve monetized your blog, as well as any paid review that you make.

The worth of my blog accoring to CubeStat:

Website Worth: $42,089.61
Daily Pageviews: 19,219
Daily Ads Revenue: $57.66

The ads revenue is low, considering to my actual income, though it is a pretty good estimate.  Cubestat determines the worth of you blog based on stats such as blog topic, as well as your average page views.

If you found that your CubeStat determined that you should be earning more than you actually are, it might be a good time to reevaluate the placement of ads on your page.

To determine your blogs worth visit cubestat.com.

Alternatives to Email, Email is Dead so Use an Alternative

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

Email is dead, it is official and it is time you started looking for alternative to email rather than killing your time reading spam emails.  Thanks to big time spammers, over half our email is spam, so personally I’ve found alternatives for emailing.

1. Facebook and Social Networking Alternatives: Facebook seems ok for now.  It is an easy way to send messages to your friends.  I can’t remember when I’ve actually emailed a friend that wasn’t business related.

2.  Instant Messanger – Even AIM is getting slightly spammy, but besides the occasional one or two messages I recieve, you can more easily get the message across by sending a message to someone than emailing.

3.  Microblogging – Get the point across with a blog like BustaBlog.com or twitter.

4. SMS – Using the short message system is a great way to schedule activities rather than relying on email. This way it goes directly to their phone.

When To Sell Your Blog? Selling Your Blog for Profit

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

So it is time to sell your blog.  You’ve been working hard the last year and now your blog is earning big bucks, enough to attract a few buyers.  Is it time to sell your blog and use those profits to start again?

Benefits for Selling Your Blog

1. No more risk – You never know what could happen in the future, and having cash now is a nice option for anyone, rather than worrying whether they will earn it in the future.

2. A loss of passion for you blog topic – Maybe you started blogging on a topic, it got largely successful, but now you want to focus on something else.

3. Instant cash to invest to your dreams?

Why You Shouldn’t Sell Your Blog

1. Is your blog still growing? If your blog hasn’t hit it’s potential and you see upward trends ahead, why not hire a writing to keep things going?  This way you profit from your blog and still move forward.  Your blog itself is real estate.

2. Starting a new blog can be a pain – I’d estimate it takes me nearly 8 months of work to turn out a really successful website.  It simply takes time to get articles indexed, gain a page rank, gain respect, get people to read your feed, use your service etc.

Whatever the case, website flipping (similar to house flipping) can be successful.  Taking a little known blog and turning it into it’s own brand and then selling the result can be profitable.  Many bloggers do find this a successful way to live.  There is something nice about watching a blog grow and the feeling knowing that you are the direct cause of the success.

Google Adsense in RSS Feed, Google Adsense for Feeds

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

If your RSS feed is already powered by Feedburner, you are in luck, Google’s purchase of Feedburner way back when, is finally taking some step forwards, with the combination of Google Adsense and Feedburner.  With Google Adsense for feeds, you’ll be able to customize your ads, and using your feedburner account, allow ads to be displayed in your Feedburner RSS feeds.

So far I’ve heard positive reports from publishers who have monetized their feeds. It seems to be a great way to earn extra cash from your feed.  For those who publisher their full rss feed, this might be a great way to earn extra cash from adsense from those who read only rss feed and don’t visit your actual blog.

Steps to Migrate Feedburner to Google

To migrate all of your feeds, and your account from feeds.feedburner.com to Google, email adsense-support-aff@google.com and provide them with, 1)Your FeedBurner Username 2)Your Google Account Email used for Adsense.

Google will then take the steps tp migrate your account and afterwards, contact you with specific steps for you to follow once migration is complete.
