So you want to find a freelance job, but you want to stick out among all the other freelance applicants, basically you need some strategies for sticking out. Frankly in today’s economy there are tons of people looking for a freelance position, but what strategies are going to help you look better than the rest?
A few Strategies that Work for getting a Freelance Writing Position(at Least that Impress Me)
1. Offer to write for free with optional payment - To get your foot in the door, so to say, offer to write something like 5 posts for free, with an optional say $1.50 a post payment if they like your work. This of course offers no loss for the person who is considering hiring you.

2. Write something about the company in your application. It is such a turnoff when someone writes a generic one liner application. I don’t care if you write for the president, unless I’ve heard of you before, please tell me you have some interest in my company when submitting your resume.
3. Understand the job you are applying for. If I ask you to include something in your application, please include it. If I ask for an example, I won’t be too impressed if it isn’t there. If I didn’t ask for an example of your work, include it anyway.Show me, that your work is fantastic, and even though you don’t have experience, your writing is exactly what I am looking for.
4. Make sure to follow up your application. I probably read through your application among a pile of others and quite frankly they all seemed exactly the same. I probably forgot about your freelance writing application. However, if you send me a friendly followup some days later asking how the application process is going, I will remember you. In fact you’ve just increased your chances in getting the position.
Not everyone can become a dot com, but getting a freelance writing position can be a great start. It will add experience, which will help in your own blogging efforts later on.
