Like it or not it looks like Facebook will force the redesign off of their service, launching their new design despite the fact that many users are sticking to the old design. Personally I like Facebook back in the old days before they started launching a million distractions. Will Facebook users accept the new design? Yes.
Facebook is to the point where you basically have to use it, like the service or not. As millions of people stay connected, they will continue to use the service, since all their friends already use it. It would take more than a new Facebook design to drive away the droves of people already using Facebook.
Like anything, people get use to one design, and it takes time to get them used to something new.
As stated on their site “New Facebook Will Be the Only Facebook (design)”.

The new design is horrible and full of glitches. I’m done with the site. I’ll respond to and accept friends, but I will not be active on it any time soon.

I personally feel that this new design is terrible. Why change a good thing? Not only is everything just wider, it is hard to find anything. Especially if you are used to the way it did look. And now my images are huge! What happened to the thumbnails.
I strongly feel that Facebook will be losing out if they launch it.
