Google me this Google me that, read old newspapers, the historic kind online with another offering from Google. As if the internet wasn’t big enough, now Google wants to bring old historic newspapers into the internet, by scanning and digitizing old newspapers in their original format.
Though the new Google Newspaper program has not yet launched, many historic societies are excited about the move. Seems now we will have even less reasons to visit the local library. Researches should be excited too, because uncouvering local newspaper information is going to become a whole lot easier.
So far, Google has been working with 100 newspapers to bring those old historic newspapers online, and make sure it has obtained all necessary copyrights.
