I’ve been reading a few articles about successful blog writing and wanted to share a summary of what I’ve learned and read lately:
Write a specific topic
Focus on a topic that no one writes about. Instead of writing about whatever, focus on something like World Wide Mustaches. You will most likely dominate mustache search in search engines. You can make just as much money focusing on something small than trying to grab at the whole picture.
Find a Blog Topic You Like to Write
Nothing is more important than writing about something you like to write about. I can guarantee you will get sick of your blog if you write about something you don’t like to write.
Write Weird Blog Topics
People are often going to tell their friends about weird blog topics like beads.org which blogs about beards they like. There is http://curdnerds.com/ who blog about cheese and making cheese. It just takes a weird topic that people are going to want to tell their friends and continue to read day after day.
Write Original Stories
If you are the only source of information about something then people will link to you. Anyone can read about the new iPod, but how many know about the evil hack you found out or the sock cover you created for iPod. Writing your own unique stories, will help win traffic.
