Google now uses the new GeoEye satellite providing better Google Maps images as it starts collecting better pictures around the globe. Just how long will it take GeoEye to create a whole set of maps for Google Maps.According to spokesman Mark Brender from GeoEye the new satellite will provide the highest resolution commercial imagery available, at .41 meters in black and white and 1.65 meters in color. Now might be the time not to tan nude on your roof, unless you want to show up on Google Map’s funniest web photos. Google will start receiving new imagery in 45-60 days so make sure to wave hello as the Google GeoEye satellite captures you…
When asked if the new GeoEye satellite for Google maps is a spy satellite, Mark Brender, GeoEye’s vice president of communications and marketing, said that GeoEye is the “opposite of a spy satellite. Spies don’t put info on the internet and sell imagery. We’re an Earth-imaging satellite, and we can sell our imagery to customers around the world who have a need to map and measure and monitor things on the ground.”
