Be careful what you blog if you lin in Burma, a blogger was put in jail with a 20 year sentence for his blog. These Burma blogger used his blog to speak out against the Burma government, something that carries a hefty jail sentence.
According to the BBC: “Nay Phone Latt was arrested in January; the sentence delivered on Monday included 15 years for offences under the Electronics Act, two years for “creating public alarm” and three and a half years for offenses under the Video Act”
Of course blogging was one of the best ways for this Burma blogger to speak out against his Government. As Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “An individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for the law.” However such an injust consequence is surely going to deter those in Burma from following similar expressions online against the Burmese Government.
