Of course I look toward inspirations when I blog, something to drive for, aspire to achieve. A few books that I’ve read, have helped me better invision what it is I wanted, and though they won’t help you become a better blogger, they might open your mind to just what blogging offers and open your mind a bit.
My Recommended Blogging Books
1. The Word is Flat by Thomas Friedman - Friedman says the internet has made the world flat. He writes how if you can’t keep with modern technology you are going to fall behind. Interesting points include the big he drives about outsourcing. He believes every job can be outsourced whether you are a journalist or just the guy at the drive through window. Is your job safe?
One major thing the book ended up teaching me is that the internet not only makes jobs portable, but the fact that it opens up increasing competition worldwide. Now competiing jobs means you might also have someone applying from India, Italy, and even Iceland.
2. The Four Hour Work Week by Timothy Ferriss - Tim was a major inspiration to me because he managed to drop his 9 to 5 job and make $10,000 a month just from the internet. A few major points he made are the fact that:
1) Who says we need to work 40 hours a week? 20 percent of what we do provides 80 percent of our income. How do we cut time off the other 80? By making our lives more efficient and finding ways to reduce wasteful activities like checking email to often, we should be able to significantly reduce the amount of time working.
2) If you want to work from anywhere, prove to your company if possible, that you are able to get work done at home. Make yourself a much needed asset to the company who would rather play with the idea of you working at home, then losing you.
3) Timothy also showed me how it is even easier to outsource your life, and even parts of your job to India for a nominal fee.
4) Lastly something important I learned from the four hour work week is the difference between the new rich and the old rich. Take the old rich, they measure wealth by accumulating stuff. Stuff like fast and big tvs. The new rich see the value in experience and collecting experiences to better yourself.
Timothy was:
If you don’t call that success I don’t know what success is.
What does this have to do with blogging?
Blogging is all about leading a different kind of lifestyle, where you no longer punch in the clock, but rather white articles when and from wherever in the world you wish. Thomas will show you how this make the world flat, and Timothy will help you reduce your time wasted, and show you how to put you income on autopilot.
