Paying Taxes for Your Blog

Tax time is near and it is time to pay taxes for that income you earned on your blog.  The IRS already sent me a big booklet for paying my taxes which doesn’t look too fun.  In any case you must pay taxes, or at least fill out for any taxes which you earned on your blog.

What Tax Form Do I Fill Out?
I’m filling out a 1040 form which includes all the income I’ve made over the last year 2008.  This includes any money earned from Google Adsense, Adbrite, Infolinks, work from any other company, as well as basically any thing earned.

Break Out the Receipts
Did you pay hosting last year?  Time to use any receipts you paid last year for things relate to blogging and claim them against your taxes.  No point in paying taxes for something you used toward your business.

Don’t Freak Out
Last year was the first year I was 100% solo.  I though the IRS was ready to stick it to me hard, but as my friend reminded me, the first 12k or around that is non taxable.

So pay your taxes, calm down, and worst case, go see a tax guy!
