Has the Recession Decreased Your Income Or Spending?

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

Since the start of the recession I have noticed a bit of a decrease in my income, but as far as spending goes, this has been one of the best times to spend money.  With prices falling like a rock in property and even the price of internet ad campaigns going down, there is no reason you can’t make money in a depression/recession/economic downturn.

Has the Recession Decreased My Spending?
Overall the recession has not decreased my spending level, in  fact I’ve been spending more, taking advantage of all the great deals a recession has to offer.

Warren Buffet said, “Be fearful when everyone else is greedy and greedy when everyone else is fearful.”

The Importance of SEO Optimization, Why SEO Is Important

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

Though SEO optimization isn’t effective alone as it used to be in the early internet days, SEO Optimization is still very important for any website.  SEO (search engine optimization) can still help you get you good search engine positions, one of the reason it is so important.

What Exactly Is SEO and Why Is It Important?
Poor SEO means that your site will have a hard time getting ranked well in search engines, since put simply, SEO helps tell a website what the topic of your webpage is really about and the whole optimization part is helping search engines determine exactly the content of your website.  The better equipped your website is to help the search engine, the better rank you are going to recieve.

SEO Strategies also can help us increase our position in Search Engines, since a major factor in the ranking of websites is also based on popularity.  Search Engines want to list sites that are both popular and relevant. A less popular site will get pushed back, while a set with higher popularity gets placed more to the front of the search engine index.

How Do We SEO Our Website’s Popularity?
The more links going to a site to a certain tagline, the more a site is going to be considered “popular”.  If 100 sites use the tag “best seo strategy” and link to this website, Google is going to be in favor of listing this site for best seo strategy on the front of their index for those keywords.

Keep in mind that link building takes time.  This is a slow process, that over time will build up and eventually you will see results if you continue to get more and more links from other websites going to your own.

Other significant improvements to the 1000 series Eee Pc includes a better keyboard layout by improving the placement of the shift key and better spacing out the keys.

Time to buy a netbook?  I’d been seriously considering an ASUS Eee Pc for quite sometime now, but the biggest factor that kept me from making the leap is the lack of graphics, meaning running anything close to blueray would be next to impossible.

Consider waiting for the new NVIDIA Ion graphics chip set to release in the first half of this year.   Nvidia claims its one chipset paired with Intel’s Atom laptop chip delivers 10 times the speed of current Intel-only netbooks.  This means being able to run a bit more graphics intensive programs.

How to Defeat Spam, Become Spam Free

Monday, February 16th, 2009

Spam, it is not only deadly, but a fierce enemy. Sure everyone’s goal is to be spam free, but is spam something that you are going to defeat easily? No. I’d like to tell you it is possible to live in a nearly spam free world, but alas this is far from the truth.

Cost to deliver one million spam messages? Little, close to nothing.

Ways to Defeat Spam and Become ‘Nearly’ Spam Free
1. Email – Start with your email. Take the time to use the unsubscribe feature at the bottom of most spam emails.  Set up email rules.  I use web.de and can setup special rules so that whenever I get an email from a certain email address, it will automatically become deleted.
2. Browsing – Make sure your adblocker is on.  Popup ads can be blocked easily.
3. Visual - There is such a thing as visual pollution/spam the billboards that you seem forced to stare at.  Unfortunately there is no good way to get rid of these… legally.
4. TV Ads - Watch all your television delayed. Anything live and you’ll end up wasting 15 minutes watching tv ads.

We are getting bombarded everyday with more and more ads, spam, and other distractions. Already they’ve come to our phones, our email, our postal mail, our phonelines.  Sometimes it seems as if everyone wants to sell you something.  Sure you will never be ad free, but at least taking a few steps to reduce that might just save you time from deleting spam, watching commercials, and any other daily distractions.
