Review of the Power of Less by Leo Babauta

Leo Babauta of the blog Zen Habits recently had his book, the Power of Less Published, which lets him put all of his main theories about taking all chaos in your life and converting it into less.  In the Power of Less, he goes over exactly how to:
1. Break down goals into tasks you can manage.
2. Create new productive habits.
3. Increase efficiency.
4. Better achieve your goals.

Could you be doing more than you really have to? I find the Power of Less full of great suggestions on how to better manage your time effectively.  Some recommendations that seem to work are:
1) Checking your email only twice a day.
2) Grouping similar tasks together to get them done faster.
3) Creating a priority list of 3 major things to accomplish and focusing on these tasks first.

One of the major tips Leo Babauta gives in the Power of Less, is how to form goal achieving habits.  How many times have you tried to accomplish something but gave up too quickly?

Leo explains that rather than taking on a new goal too aggressively, we should slowly leo babautaadjust into it.  Rather than just trying to run a Marathon the next day, take it slowly.  Make it something you can accomplish the next day.  Try just running one mile everyday. Then as it becomes a habit, slowly add more miles and distance to it.  If you try to take everything to fast, you are more likely to give up.

Totaling in at 170 pages, the Power of Less by Leo Babauta isn’t necessarily a really long read, but it will hopefully help you identify a few things in your life you could improve and hopefully find yourself with more time to spare in your day, reduce your stress levels, and start your journey toward self improvement.

As Timothy Ferriss of the 4 Hour Workweek put it, “His Mantra Works.”
