Blogging, the benefit has to be being able to travel while blogging. Customs officials never seem to undrstand this and always ask when I’m expected back to work, to which I reply, I work online from anywhere. Blogging always traveling and paying for travel as you go. Does this hostel have internet? That is the atmost number one question I ask any hostel before sleeping there on my journeys.
As long as internet is readily available, travel blogging is definately possible. Things I’ve learned while traveling include life skills such as how to trust yourself, how to make new friends in an instant, improving your self confidence, and opening your mind. The journey always changes and with each new person I meet, I feel as if it adds something to me. It’s a great chance to learn about the world and discover yourself at the same time.
There are a few downsides to the traveling working life:
1. Short friendships – Most of the friendships I make last a day, a weekend, or just a week. In fact this can lead to feeling like you have any real long term connection with anyone.
2. Life packed – Whenever I travel I have this sense of living out of a suitcase. When you sleep at hostels, usually you sleep in a room with up to 10 people, so to keep your stuff safe it always needs to be packed away and locked.
3. Constant planning – In this kind of life, you have to always be looking toward the next destination planning everything weeks at a time. Of course you can’t sleep forever at a hostel so you always have to be looking for the next place to live, go, and your mode of transport.
In the end if you can blog and earn enough to get paid to not work 9 to 5, use your skill to let you travel and experience everything the world has to offer. I can not think of any better incentive that blogging offers besides this.
