Tato Nano Released in India

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

The Tato Nano took the world by storm, especially in India where such a car seems needed considering that this opens the opportunity for poorer households to finally afford a car. The big three auto manufacturers in the USA said it couldn’t be done. Now the Western World is asking why they can’t have their own Tato Nano type cars?

The four-seater Nano travels 100 kilometers on 4.2 liters of fuel, getting 55.5 miles per gallon. Those who have test driven the car say it does feel like a real car and not just another golf cart. The Nano has been released at a low price of around $2000 USD per car.

In the future they plan to bring the Indian Tato Nano to Europe and the USA, for a slightly higher price since they have to retool it to meet safety standards, and could come out as early as next year.

Though this seems like a race to the bottom, the Tato Nano is something that probably many people would buy. It’s a cheap alternative to getting a scooter and it will get you around town.

Should Digital Information Be Free?

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

Thanks to the internet anything that can be made digital can be downloaded usually for free. Many of us bypass traditional news sources to get the latest news information in digital form for free. For information like music and video, users need only to head to a legal source (hulu.com, bbc.co.uk) or just go to any torrent website to download the information. Everything from books to music, or films, even games and car manuals can be found free on the internet, legally, that is another story.

Should all of this digital information be free? Have your ever felt any guilt for downloading the music by an artist and not paying for it? Most people don’t.

How Blogs Provide Free Digital Information
Blogs provide free information in another way, advertisement. The more views on a blog, the more funding it recieves. However, it’s not always the most popular blog that wins, just the one with the best SEO strategies. Many blogs at the top of Google aren’t necessarily always the best. As long as there is a source of good advertising and advertising programs for blogs this system will work. It gives blog writers an incentive to write.

How Companies Can Make a Profit From Free Digital Information
After film and television companies realized that the pirating of their films and shows wasn’t going to stop, they started providing them online with ads, so that they could try to profit from it, rather than gaining no profit and their copyrighted material being shared anyway.

This has worked for them, but now the fear is, this has opened the gateway for viewers to switch away from the television entirely, which makes them afraid. Advertisers on the internet pay far less than traditional over the air and print media.

In conclusion, the internet makes it extremely easy to share any information to share free and the best way to intervene without gaining any profit, is to provide it for free, with a catch, advertising.

TED Talks With Biotechnologist Juan Enriquez, Technology of the Economy

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

Biotechnologist Juan Enriquez makes a point in his recent TED talk, that though the economy looks grim, think about the future technology of the economy. Many promising things are in store for us all as technology grows by leaps and bounds. Rather than think about how our entire system is out of sync, we should think about how technology is improving so that you will live a better life no matter how the entire economic system turns out.

The Most Annoying Online Ads, Audio Ads

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

Some ads that I’ve found to be annoying more than others are internet audio ads.  These audio ads open entering the website disrupt music, peace of quiet and anything else by playing audio announcing that you’ve won a free xbox or a free wii or whatever else, usually in a very loud voice that keeps repeating the longer you stay on the webpage.

Result of these annoying audios ads? Less people will want to visit your website, which could mean a loss of readers, loyal visitors, or even bad comments about your site.

There are services that will offer pay per view audio ads, but is it really worth it?
