With economic times getting hard, some families have been looking for the cheapest meal ideas to make. If you are living above your means, an easy way to start is in the meals you cook. You can easily eat more healthy and at the same time, eat cheaper.
My Cheapest Meal Ideas to Cook
Ramen Stir Fry – Take two packs of ramen noodles, green pepper, onion, 3 eggs, 2T roasted peanuts, stir-fry seasoning. Scramble the 3 eggs, boil the ramen noodles then mix it in. Add in some chopped up pepper and green pepper, the roasted peanuts, and bam you’ve got some stir fry.
Fried Rice – Take rice, frozen peas, 2 eggs, onion, garlic, soy sauce, and ginger. Boil the rice like usual until it is soft andd white and ready to eat. Scramble 2 eggs. Mix in the rice and the eggs in a pan. Add in a litttle garlic the peas and some ginger for extra taste. Anything cooked with rice ends up being very cheap.
Pasta Spaghetti – Nothing gets cheaper than a nice Spaghetti meal. Just make sure to buy the noodles seperate in their own box and for the sauce I just use parmasean cheese with a little brocoli.
Easy Burritos – Just buy some refried beans, black beans, and a little bit of lettuce and tomato. Sometimes I even add in rice in there for added taste and cheapness.
I haven’t followed any of these cheapest meal ideas in awhile, but in college these were some of my favorite. Back when I lived on an income of $500 for rent, food, and entertainment, we had to cut corners, which meant eating a lot of rice, and plenty of peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches, yum.
