Best Office Spaces for Blogging and Work

Friday, April 17th, 2009

Since I’ve been traveling I’ve worked out of all kinds of office spaces for work and blogging, leading me to come up with some of my all time favorite office spaces for doing work. Maybe you could incorporate some of these ideas into your own office ideas…

My Top 7 List for Office Spaces

1. The toilet space – Blogging on the toilet couldn’t be better. Just add in a table, throw in a fridge and you’ll never have to get up.
2. The plane office space – Working and blogging on the plane, couldn’t be more comfortable. A flight attendant brings you drinks while you fly from point A to B in only a few hours/
3. The Train Blogger – The sites are often better than the plane, and you usually have a straight journey in front of you.
4. The Bed Office – Never having to get out of bed can be great. Just work straight from bed, and feel as lazy as you ever could be.
5. The Beach Office – Working right on the beach is the best way to make anyone jealous, just mind the sand and the water that could destroy your beautiful piece of equipment.
6. The Hot Tub Office – If you figure out how to make your laptop waterproof, then you could technically just blog away in the Hot Tub, enjoying the fresh hot water, while feeling relaxed enough to blog that 1000 word article you’ve been stressing about.
7. Coffee Shop Office – This is one of the more typical blogging office locations out there. Go to any Starbucks and you might agree.

Do You Trust Blog Articles?

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

There is an issue of trust that comes along with reading anything like blogs on the internet. What happens when you trust an article, that is written incorrectly or makes stuff up? Journalists have even been caught just pulling content off of Wikipedia, using Wikipedia as the actual source, then actually having incorrect news reports, or misspelling names, because that was the mistake used in the Wikipedia article.

Make sure before you wholly trust any one article make sure to look for additional sources. Usually if multiple articles state the same information, most likely it is true, versus seeing only one source and knowing that its wrong.

New Comment Strategy for Spammers

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

A new strategy I’ve noticed for spammers is taking content from within your post and making it the comment. This is used to fool bloggers into approving the post for which they will get additional backlinks. Other comment strategies I’ve seen include really quick thoughts about your post which is personally written. The probably go through hundreds of blogs personally writing posts, filling out the captcha and then submitting.

Still, the best strategie is to either delete their URL out of the comment, or just delete it all together. These spammers will come up with strategies to break into your blog.

Setting Goals for Earth Day

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

Earth Day is approaching April 22nd and its a good time to start setting environmental goals to do your small part to help make the Earth a better place. This could be goals as small as avoiding the use of plastic bags, or monumental goals such as using only public transportation or riding a bike to work.

There are of course benefits to setting Earth Day goals, if you can continue these goals past April 22nd, then you will also start saving yourself money. Gas and car insurance is expensive. By switching to public transportation, I’ve managed to have no car bills, pollute less into the air, and still be productive by blogging while I’m riding this transportation.

I’ve also managed to turn this toward health goals, such as avoiding any fastfood chains, eating more organically grown products, and eventually look fitter and feel fitter. What I’ve noticed is that the better I eat, the better I feel, which turns toward being more productive.
