Since blogs seemed so legitimate and a true account of someone’s story, affliate marketers started creating fake blogs known as flogs. Now the FTC is all over these flogs, since they are just tricking people into buying bad products and often than not many of these flogs lead to scams.
What happens is, they recommend the product, looking as if they are a third party and have no stake in the company. This then convinces you to purchase the product since it seems like a true testimonial from a blogger. They also add in comments on the posts from supposed other people also commenting on the blog article pages making the blog seem even more legit.
One of the biggest flog scams hsa been the weightloss scheme about a girl who has used a certain acai berry weight loss system which turns out to just be a major scam.
