You’ll see me when i travel looking for an internet connection in a new city, trying to find something free. Often it isn’t too difficult to find a free internet connection, but there are those cities where it is near impossible to find any kind of internet connection.
Tip for finding a Free Internet Connection
1. Coffee Shops – Even if you don’t want to pay for coffee, if the shop is busy enough, often I’ll just sit in there and not pay for anyhting, usually I don’t get a second glance. Another option is just sitting somewhere close to the outside of the cafe. Make sure to avoid Starbucks because they almost never provide a free open signal.
2. Look around – Often if you see a park or a bench with someone with a laptop popped open, that usually means they have an internet connection. Try asking them them if they recommend anything.
3. Hostels and Hotels – These places almost have there own connections. Rarely will they ask you for proof that you are staying there. Just sit in the lobby and mooch off their signal.
4. Internet cafe – As a last resort, this isn’t free, but you will get an internet connection.
