Importance of Goals for Your Blog

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

I’ve talked a lot about goals in the past.  Goals can help set direction for your blog and keep your blog from being just something you update on a daily basis.  Goals can help you increase your profits in the future.  Goals can help you determine where your blog is going, what your future plans are, and what you can start doing today to reach your goals.

Setting Your Own Blog Goals
Start looking at what can be improved on your blog.  Do you have design flaws? Need to improve your search engine optimization?

Now is the time to start making improvements.  Make a list of your blog flaws and what needs to be done.  Set a timeline in which you need to accomplish these goals. It’s easy to be lazy and put if off, I’ve been in this situation.  Better it’s often good to set a timeline of importance in which you’ll actually start working on your blog.

Using the YPN Yahoo Publishers Network

Monday, May 18th, 2009

So far I have yet to be accepted by the YPN,. Yahoo Publisher’s Network, though I have been highly recommened to use YPN by various bloggers.  YPN is still in beta… emphasizing the still part since eYahoo Publishing Network seems to have been in beta for the longest  time with still only USA applicants allowed to apply.  You’d think Yahoo would get the ball rolling, since this has potential to make them a lot of money.

In any case from what I’ve read this has been a profitable alternative to Adsense as long as you have the right type of site.  Yahoo Publishers Network seems to be more profitable for those with sites without specific content, where sites that have very specific content do better with adsense.

Dealing With Fake Blogs, Flogs

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

Since blogs seemed so legitimate and a true account of someone’s story, affliate marketers started creating fake blogs known as flogs. Now the FTC is all over these flogs, since they are just tricking people into buying bad products and often than not many of these flogs lead to scams.

What happens is, they recommend the product, looking as if they are a third party and have no stake in the company. This then convinces you to purchase the product since it seems like a true testimonial from a blogger. They also add in comments on the posts from supposed other people also commenting on the blog article pages making the blog seem even more legit.

One of the biggest flog scams hsa been the weightloss scheme about a girl who has used a certain acai berry weight loss system which turns out to just be a major scam.

Using Adbrite Full Page Ads

Friday, May 15th, 2009

So far I have been experimenting with  Adbrite Full Page Ads as an additional form of advertising.  Though it is detracting from some of my websites, I have a few sites where Adbrite Full Page Ads work well.  Some of my sites get 95% organic traffic from search engines, making them perfect for these types of ads.  My main goal for the sites that get mainly  search engine traffic is to convert them into a click in any way possible.

In Adbrite you’ll see that these full page ads will occasionally pop up in which the user has to click continue to the site in order to view your site.  You’ll see top websites also using this strategy as these ads usually pay a pretty high ecpm.

Basically even without a click every ad that pops up converts no matter what the action that is taken.  If they continue on to your website, you have the option to convert again into another click. So if you are only concerned about profits and keeping organic search engine traffic, Adbrite Full page Ads seems like a decent option to consider.
