One of the best ways I’ve promoted my websites are simply by word of mouth. When people ask what I do, I tell them about my websites. Often they’ll get curious and then visit my website through my personal explanation and recommendation. Last night I was out promoting my website in New York City around Greenwhich Village. I told one restaurant worker if he visited my site and commented that I would visit his restaurant, well he actually commented…
“Hey it’s Gary from Pasta Bistro Grill on macdougal. Nice site guys. I think you did a good job. See you tomorrow.”
That’s just one sign of proof that Word of Mouth marketing actually does work. But, what is to stop people from forgetting the name of the site? That is where flyers come in handy.
One of the additional things I do as a marketer of my site while walking around in the city is posting up flyers. These flyers list the site in big bold letters and then a brief explanation of what it is. Often these work, sometimes they don’t. They key to promoting a website is varying your marketing strategies and campaigns and measuring how it does. This way you can pick what works the best and stick with it.
