I used to run a VPS, which basically is a server which is shared between many other computers, however, this also means that a virus on one of these shared servers could lead to an invasion on the entire server. Lately almost all of my blogs hosted on my VPS have been getting infected. In fact this website was down most of yesterday due to a serious virus attack that took down my entire website.
A dedicated server offers more bandwidth, more security (less chances of viruses leaking in) and more overall security in your website. If you website makes thousands of dollars a month, just being offline for one day could cost you 100s of dollars in both money you are paying for advertisements like Google Adwords, and lost revenue from ads. Why not eliminate the risk by going dedicated?
I’ll be making the switch to dedicated soon, hoping to finally be rid of any more chances of getting virally infected.

Use a Simple Comment Captcha for Wordpress
Saturday, October 17th, 2009There is a reason why you should download the Simple Captcha for Wordpress comments. Spammers will bombard your blog with spam comments the second you disable this plugin. I’ve been using Simple Captcha for Comments before my blog got taken down by evil hackers.
Since I forgot to reinstall the simple comment wordpress plugin, I’ve got thousands of comments to look through. If I didn’t activate that plugin today, I’m afraid I’d have 10s of 1000s of comments to delete.
What this plugin does is create a captcha for wordpress comments, this stops most spammers. Though a few will get through, that will be a lot less to look through then the thousands of comments that will get through without a Captcha.
