Free Amazon Prime Two Day Shipping

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

I recently signed up for the free trial of Amazon Prime’s Two Day Shipping. This allows you to get all your items from Amazon.com, shipping from their warehouse in two days for just one fee. Shipping in two days for free? With the free one month trial it’s possible.

I recently ordered the eee PC 1000he which is due to arrive any minute. I ordered it on Tuesday and here it is on Thursday. It seems almost better than driving to the store, plus no taxes (at least that’s how it works in the USA).

Amazon.com is located over in the city of Fernley, NV, right outside Reno where they do all their shipping. I’m sure if you live in Fernley, same day shipping is a reality, but for those of us out in the outer reaches of the United States, 2 day shipping is all but ideal. Want one day shipping? Pay just 3.99.

At some point maybe we won’t be even leaving our house. It’s getting to that point where I order almost everything from computer, whether it’s delivered pizza, my groceries, or just that new laptop computer. Going out shopping is more of a window shopping, social activity for me more than anything else.

Time to buy a netbook?  I’d been seriously considering an ASUS Eee Pc for quite sometime now, but the biggest factor that kept me from making the leap is the lack of graphics, meaning running anything close to blueray would be next to impossible.

Consider waiting for the new NVIDIA Ion graphics chip set to release in the first half of this year.   Nvidia claims its one chipset paired with Intel’s Atom laptop chip delivers 10 times the speed of current Intel-only netbooks.  This means being able to run a bit more graphics intensive programs.

Hologram Interview CNN, Holograms A Reality for Interviewing?

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Recently Jessica Yellin was interviewed on CNN showing that Holograms can be theew reality for creating an article precesence.  With Holograms anyone can appear to be in a room even if they are say on the other side of the globe.  With faster internet connections, and cheaper high def cameras, holograms maybe become more and more common place.  Perhaps a teacher who teaches via Hologram?

The CNN Hologram Video

This is only the beginning and we have this will allow many more people to telecommute and for people to appear to be in a location without being there. May we one day see virtual hologram tourists walking down the road?
