Making money while traveling has been one of my favorite topics, since I am actually doing it now. However, the internet is not the only way to fund your travels. There are plenty of different ways to make money while traveling outside of internet work. Though anyone agree that working on the internet while blogging is one of the best possiblities, I’ve come across a number of ways to travel cheap. As many have said, if you have both time and money, you have the ultimate freedom.

Working at a Hostel
Plenty of hostels will often let you stay for free as long as you do some work each week, usually about 15 hours. This often involves cleaning the rooms or working at the reception. One of the best ways to get started is to first stay at the hostel a bit, get to know the staff, and their chances of letting you stay will be much greater.

Organic Farm Work
Often or not you can work on an organic farm for free and even get your food taken care of. It is a great way to travel and have your expenses nearly paid for outside of travel costs.

More often than not, the best way to approach traveling is to do it, even if you are low on a bit of funds. If you can cover the first month, the rest will come. When I first went to Germany with about $500 to my name, I wasn’t sure I would make it. But behold, I was able to find jobs, cheap places to stay, and slowly make it, one of the things that led to me creating this website in the first place. Sometimes you need to leap into the water without thinking, if you fail, you can always start over.

The Dot Com lifestyle isn’t all about earning money and buying fancy things. The Dot Com lifestyle is about being free and flexible to do what you want when you want. Even if you can’t fully earn money of the internet, you can still lead the lifestyle, just by finding opportunities around you in each place you travel to.

People often ask if there is a certain time that is best to start blogging or a new blog. My calendar today reminded me a of a little quote, “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The next best time is now.” The best time to start blogging was 5 years ago. However, if you still want to enter the game, the next best time is now, not tomorrow.

Sure starting your blog now will be abit harder to turn a profit, since lets face it, we aren’t coming out of this crisis anytime soon. That doesn’t mean though that starting your blog now isn’t a bad idea. Some of the wealthiest people have started their business in times of despair.

If you started your business now, then when times do turn around you’ll be ready.

Don’ t wish you planted your treat 20 years from now, plant it today and watch in grow after the next 20 years.

Are we moving towards technology that will effictively end cashiers, making business automated and with less human contact?

The end of Video Rental Cashiers
Already we’re seeing the end of video rental stores with services like RedBox, and other little video vending machines that operate like a video rental store, all in one little box. How can a video store that takes up space and needs to pay cashiers even compete? Maybe it’s the extra human touch that matters…

The end of Post Office Cashiers
Why do you honestly even need to go to the post office anymore? It can all be done online. Not only that, but most post offices have mailing machines let you buy your stamps and mailing supplies all from an automated machine.

The end of Convience Stores?
Belgium created Shop24 an automated convienence store that runs itself. It has many of the same things you’d find right in a normal gas station kiosk, but no one has to be there to cashier the system.

The end of Supermarket Cashiers?
Already we’ve got self checkout machines in Supermarkets where we checkout ourselves. One employee can monitor 12 lanes.

Automated Fast Food
New Yorkers already have an automated fast food restaurant called Bamn! It serves out food out of a vending type system and is open all day long. Bamn! located at at 37 St. Marks Place between Second & Third Ave serves mini burgers, fried chicken, pork buns, dumplings, and more. Everything at Bamn is made fresh throughout the day.

Will we have to eventually switch to a more socialist system just to make up for the many employees that won’t have jobs? As the inventors get rich what happens to the people who were employed at this wiped out sector of labor?

I’ve often asked myself the question “Should I get a Job?” Should I consider blogging my only job? Quite a few bloggers have written “no you should never get a job”, “it’s an income for dummies” or even better “getting a job is like being a coward.”

Should I Get a Job?
There are all valid points, to the thought that getting a job stifles creativity, turns you into a wage slave, and chains you to one place.  There are still many valid reasons for getting a job. Having a job leads toward meeting friends, getting out of the house, and having something to do. Jobs working for someone else necessarily aren’t bad. In fact this planet wouldn’t function without people working for other people.

Get a Job, then Work for Yourself
Most of us get a job simply because we have to. Without we wouldn’t have any money. I’d suggest working for someone with the intention of later working for yourself. Work in a field you’d like to later do business in. Want to open a coffee shop? Work in one and study the inner workings. Use your time working for someone else to really learn the field… Be eager to learn!

Reasons Never to Get a Job
Never is such a strong word, but there are plenty of reasons why working for yourself is ten times better than working for someone else.

1. Loss of Independence - Are you really free to take the company in the direction you see fit as an employee? You have to dress a certain way, work at specific times, and follow crazy regulations.

2. Being a Wage Slave? - As an employee you’ve got to beg to increase your wage. You’ve got to suck up to the bosses and listen to their every command in fear of not getting your wage increased or worse your wage reduced.

3. Risks… – Though in many ways have a job is secure… what happens when you lose it? You’ve got nothing… Experience only means so much. What the difference between 10 years and 15 years of experience?

Currently Blogging is my only income and I’ve been fortunate to live off blogging alone. I wouldn’t suggest blogging as the ultimate job, but it does have many perks… Sleeping in, writing when you want, and of course work from wherever you want.

Spam, it now account for 65% or more of all emails sent… With so many emails sent, is spamming really a profitable business?

Stock spamming
ZDNet wrote back in 2004 “a spammer who owns 1,000 shares in a company sends out an e-mail saying “buy these shares, they’re about to really take off” and if enough people are tempted it not only become a self-fulfilling prophecy but it makes them a tidy packet in the process.” Spammers would tell everyone to buy a certain stock making the prices rise, often the strategy has been successful prompting everyone to get right out and buy a certain stock.

Is Email Spam profitable?
Email spam is all about getting the message out to as many people as possible. Though you might think that no one is gullible to fall for spam… Keep in mind..

There are more gullible people on the web than you think…

New people are joining the internet everyday, many of whom who probably can’t distinguish a spam email or for another… Or just imagine if you send out millions of emails, at least a couple have to be interested enough to click on to that spammers website. All it does is take some good ad placement and it’s the perfect strategy…

Many types of spam businesses
Spam isn’t limited to just email… telemarkting is a form of spam, just as junk mail in your post office, and not limited to spammy myspace profiles, or just comments that are all spam related.

As long as spammers turn massive profits, it’s not going away anytime soon, as we adapt to internet technolgy… so will the spammers…

How much per click?
You’ll get an entire 1 cent, wow, ok so not much. Â But, I guess 10 cents a day can add up to something after awhile.

How it works
Bux.to has a list of ads that you look through and click. After viewing the ad for 30 seconds, you’ll get 1 cent deposited into your account. On a larger scale you are only getting paid $1.20 an hour. If you live in an undeveloped country this might be a good wage?

Though I can you you probably won’t earn more than $3.00 a month, but who knows?

The biggest thought I’ve had today is, how much does money really mean to you and does having more money really make you any happier? As I’ve started making more and more in my personal life, I’ve noticed a few aspects of my life that are better due to that fact that I have been earning more and more money.

1.Money=Stability. With money comes financial stability. The more money you have, the safer you feel. The lack of money often creates unstable relationships and can tend to break up marriages. Those who don’t worry about money, often can have happier marriages due to the lack of strain of the relationship moneywise

2. How much is enough to matter? I’ve noticed that the difference between a $30,000 income and a $50,000 income is luxury. The more money you have the more luxury you have. Though the person making a decent $30,000 income isn’t really worried about money, they do have to cut back in their daily life. The person making a cool $50,000 often can enjoy getting a few beers at an expensive nightclub, afford newer cars, and go more often on vacation. Does this mean a happier life? No, just a more luxurious one.

3. Money as a showoff tool. For those who like to show everyone how much „better“ they really are, money is one of the easiest tools. These people are often seen wearing the best designer clothing, driving the fastest car, and living in the largest house, just to show how much „better“ they really are. Take for example the singer 50 cent, who grew up poor. He loves to show off his new found richness by owning a large playboy mansion as well as a collection of cars that would make anyone envious.

4. Money and Dating. Have you ever noticed that it’s usual that people of the same financial standing tend to date? Rich go with Rich, Poor go with poor. So is life. Of all the girls I’ve dated they were all middle class. It seems problematic when one member of the relationship just has plenty of money while the other one doesn’t. Even Canada has their own „Club Osmose“ a dating website exclusively for rich people. Birds of a feather flock together? As generally two people of the same race tend to date (not always the case) so can be generally said for people of the same financial living standard.

5. Money and Confidence. The more money I earn, the more confident I’ve felt. When I can go out to the bar and shell out $40 without thinking, it only adds to my level of confidence. A guy who acts without thinking about money is going to come off better than one who has a budget mindset. At times when my income has been unusually low, I’ve also felt a sense of shame and a degredation of my own self worth.

Money does not matter entirely in my life, yet I can’t help to agree that even though you might not notice it, the influence of money is around you everyday, effecting, dating, your relationships, and even your feeling of self worth.

You work hard everyday, yet some people have been able to earn 1 million using stupid ways and ideas most people would consider stupid.Â

Stupid Way 1: Designer Diaper Bags
Design bags for holding diapers that could be considered a designer product? Bound to fail right? Well they have reported more than $180,000 in sales per year for the designer bags. http://www.diapeesandwipees.com/

Stupid Idea 2: Attenna Balls
Get rich selling balls for your car anttenae? It happened, and Jason Wall is proof. AntennaBalls

Stupid Idea 3: HIV Dating
Create a site for HIV people to start dating? Sounds like a disaster. Well Paul Graves and Brandon Koechlin started this website up and now they report more than $110,000 in income from this site. PositivesDating.Com

Stupid Idea 4: Million Dollar Homepage
Selling 1 pixel ad spots on your webpage for $1 each? It happened and now the owner is a millionaire. Sounds stupid, but it worked Million Dollar Homepage.

Sometimes you have to think outside the box to get rich. People aren’t just getting rich do everything everyone else does. Though others might think you have come up with some of the stupiest ways to earn 1 Million,

Are you really good at reviewing things? What about software? Software Judge dot com pays users for reviewing software. You get $50 per software review.

Software Judge says that “Obviously, your review has to be damn good for us to pay you fifty bucks and not every reviewer is going to get that much for a single review. However, you get paid at least a buck for any review published here. Ten reviews – ten bucks. Twenty reviews – twenty bucks. You do the math. The better your work, the more money you get for writing fewer reviews.”

On the positive side, you don’t need a webpage to start reviewing. Unlike services like PayPerPost where reviews are paid based on the traffic your website receives, Software Judge pays based on the quality of your review.

Make sure of course to heed by Software Judge’s rules “Don’t be stupid. Don’t review software that you never tried. Don’t say software is good, if it’s bad. Don’t try to write only positive reviews. And never, never do anything that’ll piss us off.”
