How to Build More Traffic From Old Blog Posts

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

An idea I had recently was to use old blog posts on this website and create a “How To Guide”. This ended up becoming The How to Guide on blogspot.

How it Works
Basically I look at old post on ClickforNick dot Com and rework them into a how to guide. For example, I wrote a post about ripping music on myspace. On The How to Guide this became How to Rip Music from Myspace.

The Result
The How to Guide has been steadily picking up traffic. More blogs means more pages indexed by Google, which means more possibilities that your website will show up on Google. Instead of just getting website traffic from ClickforNick dot Com, I also get lots of additional traffic from The How to Guide.

Thanks Digg! Using Digg to increase traffic

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

Digg has been one of the best ways to get my news noticed. I used to rely solely on services like Technorati and Furl. After reading an article about social networking I decided to give Digg try. Since then I’ve been submitting all of my articles on Digg.

The results?
This blog alone has gone from 25 viewers to 111 viewers yesterday. According to Google Analytics, Digg is a large portion of where my visitors come from.

Why use Digg?
Digg is an excellent social networking utility. It lets you submit news you think is important and lets others “Digg It” if they liked it. I add a small link on every article of my blog that lets you “Digg It”.

Hubpages, Blogging Money Made Easy

Tuesday, August 14th, 2007

The blogging service Hubpages offers an easy way to setup a blog, add adsense to it, and make a profit.

Creating the Blog
I created a blog with Hubpages as a test. The whole process was incredibly easy. They will ask you information pertaining to the blog that you want to write, and they will setup the rest.

Adsense Already Installed
With Hubpages that Adsense Banners are already installed for you. They keep however a small portion of your profits, 40%. However, according to Hubpages: HubPages is a highly-trafficked site, and because you’re publishing high-quality content, you’re going to find plenty of readers. Plenty of readers = Plenty of Adsense clicks.

I can’t say I recommend Hubpages due to the fact that they take some of your Adsense profits, but if you want to be a freelance writer this is a good place to start.
