YouTube HD Video Section, YouTube Adds HD Section

Friday, December 19th, 2008

Now YouTube is going all HD in a new video section that features HD only videos. Thanks to increasing internet speeds, most video is slowly but surely all going to HD. This means DVD quality videos online, and a move away from those low res video clips that YouTube used to only offer.

Of course offering HD is going to cost YouTube even more bandwidth and space. As you might have heard before, YouTube has had problems turning YouTube into a real profit machine, stuggling to find ways to even cover the costs of just running YouTube.

In any case, just enjoy quality HD videos in the exclusive YouTube section via this link.http://www.youtube.com/browse?s=mphd&t=a&c=0&l=&b=0%22

Of course one of the most popular ‘HD’ films recently is the Where is Matt video.

Send Free YouTube Greeting Cards

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

Now YouTube is allowing you to send a free YouTube greeting card.  The expanded greeting service from YouTube is free for anyone.  What YouTube has done is grouped together a set of holiday clips together which are funny and can be used to send the perfect holiday greeting. Currently there are four pages of YouTube holiday greetings.

You will have to create a YouTube account in order to send messages. It’s just an extra way to send a holiday greeting for free, and with the amount of videos there should be at least one great video for you to send this year.

Watch Tv Online, Miro, Joost,

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

One of this blog’s topics is Watch Tv Online. The overall theme of this blog being “Make Money, Save Money” I figure logically, you will save money by not having to pay for TV (I don’t). The overall highest traffic generating topic of this blog has to do with the topic watching Tv Online. Lately after readings such stories as what happened with TV-Links, I’ve been trying to focus on less borderline illegal activities for watching TV and movies online. The media in general seems to be making larger steps toward the internet, moving most of their shows on to the internet as is the case with large networks streaming their prime time shows like Prison Break online.

Two more alternative options for watching TV online are Democracy Player and Joost:

Miro Player (formerly Democracy Player):
Miro is an Internet video player that allows you to choose from a variety of channels, subscribe to video feeds and view them with the integrated player. The channel guide includes more than 600 channels, mostly podcasts and user submitted video clips, and you can also add your own podcast by entering the URL. Its best feature is its BitTorrent (read my article about torrents here) integrated features, where you can watch your downloaded Torrent right on the player.

Joost
Joost doesn’t broadcast full channels, rather just different episodes of shows. They have shows like Punk’d, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, the Late Show, and even the Price is Right. Its just a whole array of interesting programming that is being shown on Joost. Joost was earlier in its beta mode, meaning you could watch Joost if you were invited, but now, everyone who wants to can download and enjoy Joost.

Does this replace Cable and Satellite TV?
Unfortunately even with the large variety of options for Television online, there is no one application that offers it all. Rather we have to switch between programs and websites to get all the television we want to watch.

Watch Full Episodes on MSN, Free Tv Shows

Did you realize that MSN is also in the full episodes business? They are streaming a large variety of free tv shows, even many from other networks. Actually all their free tv shows come from other networks (unless you want to watch old episodes of MSNBC).

They seem to have everything that is good on TV. Even old shows like Doogie Howser MD can be watched here. Say you didn’t want to stay up late last night to watch Conan O Brien. That too, is being stream on NBC. Full list of shows on MSN found here. Overall who can be upset with the line of quality shows being shown on the internet. It seems just a matter of time before the internet becomes the way we watch tv.

Get rid of the vcr?
If you are like me, you used a vcr to record your shows. Many people probably don’t even know what that is anymore. They all have TIVO and any other digital device. Well with the amount of free shows that are being streamed, I don’t see any reason to use my vcr again. These streaming full episode site, like MSN, update shows after they’ve been shown, so if you missed the last episode of CSI, just wait a day or two and it’ll be on MSN’s website. Did I say no or almost no commercials? The best advantage with shows streamed online is almost all the commercials have been cut out, except for one or two promo commercials thrown in.
