What about a translator that can translate languages and send it back to you as text? New glasses will translate languages and read the translation in your language as text on a screen. As switched.com wrote about the language translator “the microphone picks up the conversation, and then transmits it to a small computer around the wearer’s waist. The computer sends the data to a server which does the actual translating. The freshly baked translation then comes back and is displayed as text on the retinal-display. ”

Unfortunately this system really isn’t fast enough to translate languages on the fly. You’ll probably have to ask the person to speak slower. Still this is a step in the right direction and probably going to have all of us looking goofy when we travel in the near future.

For some time now, Real Time Race has been developing a system that places players side-by-side with the drivers in real races. This could take interactive gaming and television to the next level allowing people to race in real sporting events in everything from downhill sking to car racing or maybe even bicycling.

Most of the video about augmented reality racing is in dutch, but enough is in English to get the general idea…

So far Black Friday 2009 looks like it will be the same, the usual big screen tvs, etc… Already the Office Max 2009 ad has been released as well. Who will bare the long lines and super traffic to save some dough? Or will everyone wait for cyber Monday to beat the lines and save some cash.

I recently purchased the Acer Aspire 7738 as my next desktop replacement, since it hsa a 17.3″ screen, T6500 2.1 ghz duo core processor and 3 gb of DDR3 SDRAM. The main compelling feature for me was the GeForce GT 130M ddr3 video graphics card also included which makes modern gaming at high rates possible.

When someone travels as much as I do, lugging around a desktop, even a portable slim desktop would be a pain. This is where a notebook like the 17.3″ Acer Aspire 7738 comes into play. The screen is still large enough not to feel small like the 10.1 inch screen on my netbook. Though it doesn’t have quad-core technology, 2.1 ghz duo core is still fast enough for most processes considering that it does still have the ddr3 technology built in.

For $700 the 17.3″ Acer Aspire 7738 is still a great deal and with the keyboard similar to the Mac Book Pro it’s easy enough to use without feeling cheap.

Since I’ve been back in the USA I’ve been using Google Voice for free incoming and outgoing calls. Rather than give out my cell number I give out my Google voice number. Since I use prepay with TMobile this saves me a lot of money. How?

I set Google Voice to ring my cell phone and my Gizmo 5 account. Since Gizmo 5 rings my computer I don’t have to pay for those calls. If I am not at my computer, I pick up my cell phone and take the call.

Basically Google Voice offers me free calling when I’m near internet which saves me a ton on my calling plan.

Tools You’ll Need for Free Incoming Outgoing Calls
1. Sign up at Google.com/voice
2. Sign up for a Gizmo account at Gizmoproject.com
3. Add your Gizmo account to your Google Voice account.

Is it worth scouring eBay day after day for the best deal? You might often spend more time trying to save money using eBay then if you would have used the time efficiently and just bought the item at full price. Don’t get me wrong, there are some good deals on eBay, many of which come from Hong Kong.

Getting the Best Deals On Ebay is probably what I do, add a ton of items to your list, then set an autobidder to bid the maximum you are willing to spend at the last minute. Though this seems a bit dirty, many people on eBay do this. Not only that, but people bid their own item up themselves to get the bid artificially higher.

Often than not, a used item on eBay goes for only a little less than a new one. Is that worth it?

So basically give it your best shot, but if like me, after days of trying you just can’t seem to get that deal, do the next best thing. Look on google.com/products and find the best price on a new or refurbished item.

After dealing with wordpress for the last two years, I know how easily wordpress can recieve viruses. All it takes is for an open door in wordpress and a hacker can insert his own scripts that make your wordpress blog the deliverer of viruses. Once Google gets ahold of the fact that your website has a virus, it will list you as a virus website.

Steps to Prevent a Wordpress Virus
1. Always update Wordpress to the latest version
2. Try making all your files on your server read only
3. Install antivirus for wordpress plugins
4. Keep a fresh backup not located on your computer (viruses you recieve on your computer can infect your wordpress files)

I’ve noticed that even if I take a short break from blogging my Google ranking isn’t too much effected. However the longer I stop posting the less and less traffic I receive from the search engines. When I start full blogging again after my break usually everything picks up back to normal. Why this trend?

It’s possible that Google Pagerank among other factors views the amount of times a site is updated as one of it’s criteria. If your site is rarely updated with anything new, then it could be seen as a website that rarely provides fresh content so will be 1) checked less often 2) given lower priority.

Just make sure to update your blog consistently and if you can’t pre publish some content to appear on your blog even while you are absent from blogging
