Of course we have all heard of Skype, but if you haven’t here is my review of the features for using Skype as a way to make PC to PC calls.
Skype Video Camera
Of course you can make video cam chats with Skype. It works quite well too. You can even full screen the cam in video mode if you want. The downsides? Skype only lets you use your camera when talking to one person at a time. Will they ever let us use more than one cam?
Skype as a Voip Service
Skype does have competitive rates. If you compare these to a typical voice service, then you will save immensely.
Skype for Incoming Calls
Skype does have an incoming call feature, but I don’t recommend it. You’ll end up paying $30 a year for it. But if $30 doesn’t seem like much, then it is a good option. After all, you can choose any area code you desire.
Skype as a Messenger
This is where skype really shines through. I have my own buddy list on Skype with friends I only talk to on skype. It is nice to also be able to voice chat whenever I want with them. Is it any better than MSN, not really. AIM? A bit better. In any case, it is Skype’s ease of use that makes it so attractive.
