I wrote earlier about how the following services (Voipstunt, 12voip, LowrateVoip, VoipWise, Nonoh.) may have problems, including loss of free calls, frozen accounts, and loss of account. After the comments I’ve been receiving, it seems that the rumors are true.
Mandy said: “My account has been frozen on justvoip (I lost 15 euro, on nonoh, I lost 12.72 euro.”>> I currently use justvoip and haven’t experienced any problems. As for Nonoh, I have heard more than enough.
Sarah said, “Everytime i try to make the free calls it charges me 1 pence at each side..i tried to top up my account but it didnt help and until now i have tried to write to nonoh 4-5 times with no response.”
It seems so far I can only confirm that Nonoh is the biggest problem of betamax services. Though I’ve been fortunate not to experience problems.
Tips to prevent getting screwed
Before signing up with a voip company, write to their customer service. See how long it takes to respond. If you have to, even make up a phony problem. Did they try to solve it? Many of these lesser known voip services are simply an automated phone company with little or no support. If you run into a problem, there will be no one around to fix it.
