Did you know that McDonalds has call centers for some of it’s Drive Thrus?  Rather than having someone inside the store answer calls, it can be done quicker with a drive thru call center.  That person you talk to may even be living in India!

That free customer support number you called could be connecting you to someone across the globe, thanks to voip. Many of these call centers are filled with people who actually learn your accent so you can’t tell the difference when you call (though we all can).

Another current and practical use for Voip includes teleconferencing

Why should you have to be somewhere to work? Voip allows you to communicate without being in the same room.  When combined with video, it is the perfect subsitute for physical presence.

And might we add another use that is the most pratical of all?

Keeping in touch with friend and family, abroad and at home!
