There is a new wireless service called Earth Tones, which offers prepay cell phone service for most of the USA. There is however something different about Earth Tones as they aim to be the cheapest prepay mobile service. All the profits of Earth Tones are donated directly to eco friendly groups.
Unique is the fact that you can call any US senator for free. The Anywhere 1200 for $85 rivals T-Mobiles $100 for 1000 minutes. Even for $55 you can buy a nice 800 minutes.
At first I was skeptical about the price, looking for a disadvantage is call coverage area, but after reviewing the map, Earth Tone Wireless must be paying for the use of cell phone towers such as tower sharing with ATT or Sprint. They seem to have an excellent coverage area.
Billing is done in 6 second increments, it is explained on their site as “After the first 30 seconds all domestic calls are billed in 6-second increments. (Most phone companies round your call up to the next minute, so for a 2 and a half minute phone call they will charge you for three minutes. By not rounding up your calls, we save you up to 15% off what you would be paying a company with the same rates and full minute billing.)” This should also save you some cash with your wireless bill.
Should you switch to http://www.earthtones.com/? It is definitely worth a look into.
