Google has finally taken a step forward with Grand Central turning it into the new Google Voice service. Does that mean users can finally sign up with new accounts? Unfortunately no. Google Voice is limited to previous Grand Central account users only. However, we are hopeful that the new switch to Google Voice means that Google is still interested in the project and will eventually open up to new applicants for the service.
Google does promise to open the service up to everyone. In their question and answers page, Google states: “We expect to have the service ready for new users in a matter of weeks, and are focused on opening it as soon as possible.”
